EOS smooth sphere lipbalms - overview

It has just come to me to make a review on this product after quite sometime of using it.. :)

I decided to make this post because I've seen a lot of bloggers/vloggers give a very strong liking for this brand. With it being made of all natural ingredients, it does sound like a great product, doesn't it??

If you want an honest review, skip the pretense & go to the end of this post.. ^_^

I have actually tried EOS before, my Grandma from US gave me Sweet Mint before..I don't know, I didn't appreciated it before, and so, I didn't use it much..

Last year, my curiosity kicked in, when I saw EOS smooth sphere has a new flavor, Medicated Tangerine..
and so, bought it immediately...

MEDICATED TANGERINE - I bought this one from Ms. Avi of MakeupStash.

I love the scent of this one, very citrus-y and so tried it immediately, oh! it tastes so good.
With it being "medicated", I stopped using any lip treatment then, to observe if this is true to its name.
I have cracked lips by then, and so after 3days or so of using only this, my lips slightly improved, it got a little softer, but didn't healed my cracked lips.

BTW, I've purchased this late November 2011, so you can see that one sphere can last for a long time.. ^_^

Here's a comparison of a new EOS and my Medicated Tangerine.

as you can see, it's almost flat..haha! Proof of how much I am using mine.. hehe..

I was really impressed and so I got excited and bought more last January!!! hahaha!
But this time I bought these, along with other cosmetics, from another seller Shirlina of Getsophisticated Onlineshop whom I became friends with.. :)

The one with the box is called "Share the Love" set.. which includes 3 flavors...

  • Strawberry Sorbet - from the name itself, this one smells of super sweet strawberries!!

I keep this on my makeup kit, so I kind of used it but I always find myself reaching for the Medicated Tangerine one.. :)

WHY??

Because this is not as moisturizing as the Medicated Tangerine, i don't know, I'm quite disappointed with this one..

  • Sweet Mint - minty scent/flavor!

This reminds me a gum, double mint gum, if you are familiar with that..haha! And mint flavored toothpaste.. ^_^
and this one has a slight cooling effect. :)

  • Passion Fruit - i believe this is a limited edition flavor.

I don't have the actual photo because a friend of mine, asked if he (yes, its a he & a straight one that is..teehee) can have one, and so I let him choose between this & SweetMint, but he chose this one..hah! ;)
As far as I'm concern he likes it.

HONEYSUCKLE HONEYDEW

This has the sweetest scent of all.. It's melon scent, with a hint of something citrus..
I haven't personally tried this one.. :)

LEMON DROP with SPF 15

This one is not mine actually! haha! :P
I gave this to my boyfriend, because he asked me to haha, and he's been using this since then.
According to him, he likes this lip balm because its not greasy and it doesn't look like he ate something so oily when he applies it! (haha! I know, my boyfriend is maarte..)

There's actually 7 flavors,

  • Strawberry Sorbet
  • Medicated Tangerine
  • Lemon Drop SPF15
  • Honeysuckle Honeydew
  • Sweet Mint
  • Summer Fruit
  • Passion Fruit *limited, not available anymore*

I want you all to know, especially those who haven't tried eos lip balms that if you are looking for a balm that is very conditioning & will help heal your lips, if you have chapped lips, this product will not suffice alone..

These lip balms, especially the regular ones, are good for maintaining normal and healthy lips.
The Medicated Tangerine one, for me, is a lot better in moisturizing.
**note that I have only tried Medicated Tangerine, Lemon Drop & Strawberry Sorbet so I base my opinion on those three.

So if you have chapped lips, I would recommend using petroleum jelly every night before going to bed, then in the morning, you can use this alone or under your favorite lipstick or gloss just to protect your lips from further drying.

What I love most about this is that when applied, it doesn't feel greasy nor feel like I am wearing a lip balm..
I would say that the moisturizing and/or protecting effect of this balm for me is for an hour or so, when my lips are chap-free, and even if it wears off, I still feel comfortable & I don't need to re-apply,

Some may also have an issue on the packaging, but I don't.. :)
I actually love the egg-shaped thing, and I find it easier to use this way than the usual shape of balms. I just need to pucker my lips and swipe the product once, and I'm all done!!! :) hehe.. ^_^

PROS:

  1. Very fun egg-shaped packaging.
  2. Easy to use.
  3. Yummy scent that comes in 6 flavors.
  4. Provides light everyday moisturization.
  5. Doesn't feel greasy.
  6. 100% Natural and 95% Organic.
  7. Not tested on animals.
  8. According to my boyfriend: MASARAP!!! haha! (Tastes good!)

CONS:
  1. Not available on malls here in the Philippines.
  2. A little too expensive when you are on a strict budget.
  3. Won't heal chapped lips.
  4. Product can be damaged when screwing the cap on especially when you're not careful enough.
  5. Cannot be placed on small pouches and/or on pockets because of the shape, its too bulky.

VERDICT:
  • 9/10 for the Medicated Tangerine.
  • 8/10 for the Lemon drop SPF15.
  • 7/10 for the regular flavors
I have mixed feeling with this products, see above rating.
If only, they make all of the flavors medicated, then it will be more effective.
Like I've said, I always reach for my medicated tangerine than to my strawberry sorbet because the latter is not moisturizing and effective than the other.
As for the LemonDrop, the spf is a plus.
And so, I might not buy the other flavors soon, but I will be re-purchasing Medicated tangerine for sure. ^_^

That's it!

Thank you for your time & I hope this post gave you some insights on this product, and I hope this helped you in some ways.. ^_^

'Til next time lovelies!!! <3 <3 <3

Smile always & Stay beautiful
xoxo
